If you've spent the morning looking at a screen, eating lunch while looking at the same screen can feel like a fairly limited change of scene.
Working near Newcastle's Quayside gives you another option. Get out, find something you actually want to eat and let the day change shape for a little while.
Fork is at One Trinity Gardens on Pandon Bank, serving weekday breakfast, lunch and coffee. Our menu is Italian-influenced, with focaccia at its heart and other options for days when you fancy something different.
Choose lunch to suit the time you've got
If your break is short, have a look at the menu before setting off. It saves you spending the first part of lunch deciding what lunch should be. Filled focaccia is a straightforward place to start; the menu also includes salads and a changing pasta of the day.
If you have longer, sit down. Have the conversation you were trying to squeeze into three messages. Meet the colleague you usually only see as a small rectangle. Eating together doesn't need to become an organised networking opportunity. Sometimes you can just discuss something ridiculous over a sandwich.
For a working lunch with a whole team, catering may make more sense than sending one person out to memorise everybody's order. Fork's catering page explains the current options and how to arrange collection or request delivery.
Leave room for the break itself
There's a temptation to make every spare minute useful. Return the call. Check the inbox. Read the document you didn't get to earlier.
You can also just eat your food while it's good and have a look around. The river is there. Newcastle has supplied a rather decent backdrop.
Fork is open Monday to Friday, so think of us as part of the working week: a quick lunch, a catch-up or somewhere to step away from the desk.
Before visiting, check the menu and opening hours. Then give yourself enough time to enjoy what you came for.
